Graves Disease And Dental Treatment

Graves Disease and dental treatment are associated in that there is a known method that oral health professionals are able to do in Graves Disease patients to help them with their illness.

Before the procedure for Graves Disease and dental treatment, the oral health professionals must be familiar with oral and systemic manifestations of the disease so that he or she can assess the degree to which the condition can be controlled. If there is a suspicion as to the diagnosis, elective dental treatment must be first put on hold until such time that the medical evaluation is completed.

Different dental treatments are offered with different level of thyroid condition. There are dental treatments for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and thyroid storm.

Oral manifestations for patients that have hyperthyroidism such as increased receptiveness to caries, enlargement of the extraglandular thyroid tissue, accelerated dental eruption and the burning mouth syndrome should be well evaluated by the oral health professional before proceeding to any procedure concerning Graves Disease and dental treatment.

Graves Disease and dental treatment [http://graves-disease-treatment.blogspot.com/2007/09/best-treatment-for-graves-disease.html] procedures help increase the likelihood of keeping the disease from becoming more fatal to the patients. However, with these dental treatments, there is no assurance that the disease is totally taken out of the system since it has been known to us that the disease is incurable. To have yourself assured that you will be able to regain your vibrant health, there are available books today concerning the natural way of treating the disease. Not only do these books speak about this natural method but they also assure you that it really works and by far is the safest way to deal with the disease.

Chronic Yeast Infection - System, Treatment

A chronic yeast infection is one which recurs. Many females have yeast infections which recur for many months and even years. A great many men also get yeast infections but sometimes theirs are without symptoms, although they do experience symptoms as well. When women do experience a yeast infection it is generally accompanied by burning in the genital area. There can be a discharge which is white, odorless, and of a cheesy consistency. Men who have genital yeast infection can often have a rash on the penis which itches.Chronic yeast infections can be caused by diabetes, excessive consumption of sugar, alcohol, or carbohydrates. Underwear which is too tight fitting could actually work to trap the infection, poor hygiene, douching, abrasions located in the genital area are some causes of yeast infection. Some of the symptoms of a chronic yeast infection which may not be so noticeable include diarrhea, indigestion, constipation, bad breath, muscle aches, fatigue, headaches, irritability, dizziness, and abdominal pain.Everyone who experiences a yeast infection certainly wants to learn some effective treatments for their problem. Those people who have diabetes should keep control of their glucose levels. Don't continue to wear a bathing suit which is wet for an extended period of time. Avoid wearing tight underwear. All yeast infections will not react in the same way to treatment because there are various yeast strains involved. There are anti-fungal agents which may be able to help. Use a couple of different products to treat your chronic yeast infection and change to another one if there is no noticeable change. There is one treatment called Nystatin. This product doesn't have very many side effects at all. It is available by prescription only. Garlic is suggested as a natural remedy which can be used as an antifungal. It can be taken by mouth or suppository. Olive leaf extract can be used to treat chronic yeast infection. Grapefruit deed extract can also e used to treat yeast infection. In many cases of chronic yeast infection the cure is only a matter of avoiding certain foods such as processed ones like white rice, as well as white flour. Avoid excessive use of vinegar and avid eating mushrooms. If you don't stick to your diet you may cause your yeast infection to recur.

An Oxygen Concentrator Can Help Your Chronic Bronchitis

If you have chronic bronchitis, you have to deal with a lot of issues that don't affect people who don't have this condition. For example, while someone without chronic bronchitis can easily clean their home without ever feeling winded, this task may leave you short of breath. The reason this condition causes these types of issues for you is because it prevents your body from getting as much oxygen as it needs. Unfortunately, as you've already been told by your doctor, there is not a cure for this condition. While knowing that there is no cure for a condition that you have is never good news to receive, the fact that there isn't a cure doesn't mean that there aren't options for improving your ability to live with this condition.

The best way to treat this condition is to use an oxygen concentrator. If you haven't heard of this type of machine before, it's a device that can provide your body with extra oxygen. Because most of the problems associated with chronic bronchitis stem from being unable to get enough oxygen, this type of machine can help lessen that issue for you. If you choose to start using an oxygen concentrator, you will definitely notice the positive effects that it has on you. While you may be used to feeling tired throughout the day, this type of machine will help you with that problem. For one, receiving a steady stream of oxygen throughout the day will keep your energy levels much higher. Additionally, because you can use a concentrator to receive oxygen while you sleep, you will be much more rested. Regularly getting a full night's worth of sleep will not only make you feel better, but it will actually improve your overall health.

If you're convinced that an oxygen concentrator is what you need to feel better, there are two main types of concentrators available. The first type is the newer option of the two. This type is a portable oxygen concentrator. Because these concentrators can weigh as little as five pounds, they are designed to go with you throughout the day. Additionally, as a result of running on rechargeable batteries, you can use these devices throughout the day without needing to plug them in for power.

The other type of oxygen concentrator is a home device. The reason these devices are designed to be used in your home is because they are much larger. While you may wonder why anyone would choose a larger device instead of a smaller and portable one, the reason is because home devices usually cost a lot less than portable ones. Additionally, many people simply don't have a need to travel on a regular basis.

If you're concerned that you're not going to be able to pay for one of these devices, there are options to make them more affordable. Some people choose to rent a concentrator on a monthly basis, while other people with bronchitis are able to afford one of these devices by purchasing a used machine.

Natural Asthma Relief - Apple Cider Vinegar

A natural asthma relief comes in the form of apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar, known as the "wonder medicine", has been used since ancient times to cure ailments. It has been used to aid and promote a variety of number of health benefits, including promoting longevity! And if you are suffering from asthma, regular intake of it will help you feel much better.

Just take a spoonful of it every day, and you will reap all the health benefits that comes with it. If you do not like the taste, you can put the spoon right to the back of your mouth, beyond your taste buds, and just swallow it quickly. Otherwise, you can mix it with a glass of water and some lemon to hide the taste. Usually, after a few days, you will get used to the taste and may even begin to enjoy the acquired taste.

Another way that you can take it is by heating it slightly and take it with some honey. Make sure that you heat it over the stove, and not in the microwave, as this will change the molecular structure of it and cause it to lose its efficacy. Do not over heat it, just heat it slightly with some honey to make it more pleasant for you. This will soothe your throat and bronchial, and ward off the irritation of the throat that cause those nasty coughs that accompany asthma.

By taking this regularly, you will find your health improving drastically. Whenever you feel an asthma attack coming on, take one tablespoon mixed in water and sip it slowly. You will find that the wheezing will lessen considerably. If it does not stop, take another spoonful with another glass of water, and breathe deeply. Apple cider vinegar contains a potent supply of potassium which can help relief symptoms like running nose, sinus, excessive mucus formation and watery eyes. You will find that it will clear your breathing passage.

However, natural asthma relief remedies can only do so much for you, if you do not get rid of the cause of the asthma itself. If it is work related asthma due to stress, you may need to find alternative jobs in the long term. So many people are suffering from asthma that it is becoming a rather alarming disease to society. We need to take preemptive measures to put a stop to this.

Introducing Your Family to COPD

So you have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and you are wondering what the next step is. Besides, readjusting your lifestyle to control the disease, the most important thing you must do is inform your family. This can be a difficult task and it is hard to know how they will take the news until you tell them. But it's something that has to be done both for you and for them.

After you have told them the news of your illness, the next step is to inform them on what the disease is, what kind of treatment you will need, and how it will affect your life both in the short term and long term. Here are some reasons why it is important to let your family know your situation:

1. They should be aware of your condition in case there is an emergency. It is easier to get you the help you need if they are aware of what is wrong.

2. The quicker you tell them, the quicker they can adjust to your new lifestyle and the more they will be able to help you get through any tough times.

3. It will be easier for them to plan family activities that include you if they know your condition and your limitations.

4. Knowing your condition will help them to know what they need to do to make you comfortable and deal with the diagnosis.

There is no reason why your diagnosis should affect your family life. There are many things that you can do as a family to make it work out for everyone. Just be honest and straightforward with them and, although it may take time for them to get over the initial shock and to adjust, there are things you can do to help them come around.

1. Remember that you are the same person you were before the diagnosis.

2. Don't let your mind get the better of you. You felt one way before you were diagnosed, all of a sudden, you feel worse after the diagnosis. This may not be a coincidence, it may be a case of mind over matter. Before you were told you were sick, you felt normal, but when you found out you were sick, you focused on that so much, you actually made yourself sick. Try and forget about being sick, take as small roadblock that can be overcome by just continuing on with your life as you lived it before and think positive. This will reflect on everyone else around you too.

3. Don't treat any limitation that develops over the course of your illness as the end of the world. Search for other things you can do in the place of things you can no longer do.

4. Don't assume you can't do something because of your illness. Always try first and if you succeed, great! If you don't, than at least you tried and can now move on to the next test.

It is possible to live a normal family life with COPD, it's just a matter of working together!

Asthma Complications

Asthma is a serious disease resulting as a permanent disorder in once health. It gives a lifelong suffering that one has to endure and it affects one lifestyle for life. There are lots of remedies to treat asthma both herbal and medical as well as prevention plans that you should consider in order to control the symptoms of the disease. If you have asthma, you shouldn't just take it for granted for an asthma that is not properly controlled and prevented can have an undesirable impact on your life quality. Here are some conditions that may result without proper treatment:

• Fatigue;

• Underperformance, absence, or termination from work;

• and psychological problems such as anxiety, stress, and depression.

As time goes by and you still don't put on remedies and do some care plans for your asthma, it will be serious and continuously persists. If you feel that your lifestyle is already greatly affected by asthma, you should contact your doctor or an asthma clinic.

Other complications of asthma include the respiratory complications which lead to a number of serious lung diseases, like:

• pneumonia (lung infection);

• respiratory failure;

• status asthmaticus or severe asthma attacks;

• COPD like acute bronchitis and emphysema;

• and dyspnea.

All of the complications mentioned above are life-threatening and will require medical treatment.

Death

The worst scenario could be if it is totally incurable or you didn't act quickly and see a doctor for your sickness. The highest risk will be death. You must remember that during an episode (asthma attack), there is a tightness of the chest and difficulty in breathing, If you do not have the medicine to quickly remove the pain (such as inhalers and nebulizers), there is a big tendency for you to pass out and lose your breath.

3 Asthma Breathing Quick Tricks

Asthmatic breathing can be really tough and scary to navigate. Here are 3 simple quick tricks to help your challenged breathing let go of you. These quick tricks open up the whole breathing mechanics so your breath has more space and less pressure so it can do a better job of supporting you. As always, be sure you have immediate access to your life-saving inhaler as a back-up measure. That's really important.

Asthma Breathing Quick Trick One: Move your attention from the in-breath to the out-breath. This sounds easy and it is when your breathing is not challenging. It's tougher when you're in the midst of gasping for air. That's part of why this works so well. It's a mental trick to help you move your attention onto your out-going breath. All you have to do is notice the out-breath more. I do this by "ignoring" my in-breath and putting my attention gently on the out-breath. There is NO forcing. Forcing or pushing is counter-productive and makes things worse, not better. Gentle wins the race every time.

Asthma Breathing Quick Trick Two: Drill a hole in the tip of your nose! Not really, of course, but in your imagination. You know where your nostrils are; they are on the "underside" of your nose. You can feel the air go in and out of them easily, right? Imagine you've drilled a hole the diameter of a drinking straw at the very tip of your nose. It's not on top, not on the bottom, but a the very tip. Now close your mouth and GENTLY breathe (without any push or forcing) through the "new hole" in your nose. Remind yourself NOT to force this. The idea is to LET or ALLOW the air to come in and out by itself. You'll notice a rapid reduction in anxiety and an increase in breathing ease in a short time. When you've had enough of this idea just let it go. The idea is not to breathe like this forever, it's to focus your mind and teach your body the mechanics of "gentle" with this mental image.

Asthma Breathing Quick Trick Three: For this one make an agreement with yourself that you won't inflate your lungs the full amount and won't deflate them the full amount either. You'll "under do" this one for best results. Imagine your next few breaths go into your chest to the bottom of your ribs and gently inflate the ribs SIDEWAYS instead of forward and back. The feeling is you're breathing East to West or side to side, however it's easier for you to conceptualize. I feel the breath come in, drop to my lowermost ribs and then gently push/expand my ribs apart sideways so I feel WIDER. That's the idea. Try it a few times to get the knack of it. You'll get more air in more easily with part of your chest you seldom use. Don't overdo this one either. Do a few breaths and leave it go until tomorrow or the day after. This is not exercise. Gentle wins--always. The next few times you practice this one monitor your shoulders and your lower back. Avoid the temptation to lift the shoulders and/or to arch your lower back. It's just a sideways glide/opening of your ribs. Keep it simple, gentle and pleasant.

Lessons From Oxygen Dependent Patients

There are literally thousands of people who have been diagnosed with COPD and must therefore receive supplemental oxygen on a continuous basis. Many times this means extra oxygen 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For all of these patients this has meant not only an impact in their lifestyle but also, and perhaps more importantly, changes that they had never imagined were in store for them.

In the first place they have to confront their own fears and the greatest fear of all is facing your own mortality. Most people spend their lives knowing that everyone that has ever lived or will ever live will die. But at the same time we do some wonderful mental gymnastics to make sure this knowledge stays well from our conscious mind. In other words we are extremely good at ignoring it.

The first time anyone has told they have serious respiratory problems including lung damage and that they must have supplemental oxygen it comes as a shock. Shock even though they have known that they were suffering from a serious illness. Then comes a time of adjustment and it is quite normal for depression to creep in, for rejection to take place or even to pretend that nothing happens.

These are all normal reactions and it's not just a question of them happening but that they will surely occur of and on during the day and perhaps the many weeks. And even when the patient has adjusted to his or her new lifestyle these questions will reoccur.

People who must have extra oxygen will never be able to remove that need from their conscious mind at the same time those who do adjust, and they are the large majority, are now able to pursue a much more active lifestyle, with increased mobility and are therefore able to recover and find a purpose in their lives. This is a very important reaction to a chronic illness and in fact can even be termed an advantage they will have over most other people.

When things are going well, when life seems to be smiling at you, when you're feeling healthy, most people will fall into a routine and before they know it live has continued its way and all of a sudden there is much less time and you begin to wonder not only where it went but how it was spent.

Sometimes not having enough is extremely good therapy. One of the immediate restraints all oxygen deficient patients suffer is that directly related mobility. Anyone can imagine, perhaps not feel, but certainly imagine how difficult it is to go about and continue with normal day-to-day activities if you lack oxygen.

This is where things have changed for the better over the last few years. Portable oxygen equipment is now a normal standard prescription for people need supplemental oxygen. There are various makes and brands of different oxygen units, including oxygen tanks, oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators. And these will all have their mobile or portable alternatives.

A few years ago people who had to wear and oxygen mask always seem to stand out in a crowd. Nowadays it is a normal site and especially when the oxygen unit they use tends to be small, compact and even seems to blend in with the person.

Quality-of-life oxygen dependent patients is much better than it used to be. Mobility has been recovered and equally important is the fact that they have confronted their fears come out stronger.

There is a lesson here for all of us, and that is not to take things for granted but to make sure we use every second time we have building up the greatest reason possible for our lives.

So that when the time comes, and it will inevitably come, we could go knowing we did our best.

Chronic Asthma Information

Not everyone with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease suffers from this form asthma, but many individuals who experience emphysema or chronic bronchitis have asthma-like symptoms. Medical experts continue to debate whether chronic asthma should be classified as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, since asthma can be reversed.

Chronic asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airways; the term asthma is derived from an ancient Greek word which means panting. With this type of panting, the inflammation leads to the narrowing of the airways, which can cause wheezing, breathlessness, and gasping for air.

Studies indicate that this severe form of difficulty with breatjing involves two stages: the hyper-reactive response and the inflammatory response. The hyper-reactive response refers to the constriction of the airways in response to inhaled irritants, while the inflammatory stage involves the production of white blood cells in the airways.

During a chronic asthma attack, the muscle tissue in the walls of the bronchi experiences spasms, causing labored breathing. This can lead to coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing occur almost everyday. In order to combat this ailment, several medications may be needed.

Some medical experts speculate that the persistent symptoms of this severe type of breathing attack indicates a food allergy. As a result, some doctors encourage those suffering from breathing difficulties to revise their diets in order to reduce the incidence of flare-ups.

There are some other simple strategies one can follow in order to alleviate symptoms of asthmatic attacks. These include removing the cause of chronic asthma, treating the symptoms, or altering the host to be more tolerant of the causes.

If you've been diagnosed with this form of asthmatic problem, medical experts suggest stopping all smoking and banning cigarette smoke from the house. Patients should also stop the use of volatile chemicals, which may exacerbate one's symptoms. Ending contact with pets can also alleviate the problem.

The aims of any treatment program should include: avoiding the trigger factors for asthmatic attacks, eliminating symptoms, restoring normal lung function, reducing the incidence of severe attacks, and minimizing the side-effects of drugs.

Drug therapy can fall into three categories. Acute asthma can be attacked with preventors or anti-inflammatories; relievers, which provide acute relief of symptoms; and controllers, which provide a sustained bronchodilator action with a mild anti-inflammatory action.

It should be noted that there are some misconceptions about the treatment . For instance, antihistamines do not appear to be an effective treatment strategy as some have thought. Immunosuppressives such as methotrexate are rarely beneficial and acupuncture has a negligible effect.

The basic goals of educating those with this form of asthmatic attacks include an ability to understand the nature of the breathing difficulties, an understanding of different types of asthma medication, an understanding of prevention strategies, knowing the correct use of inhalers, and recognizing signs of worsening symptoms.

Interestingly enough, chronic asthma is often misdiagnosed in the elderly. Also, older people are more susceptible to the side-effects of drugs used to treat this scary affliction. As a result, senior citizens need special prevention strategies for acute asthma.

Breathing Exercises for Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a severe infection of the lungs which is characterized by shortness of breath, high fever and chest pain. This condition can be caused by bacteria, viruses or aspiration. Depending on the cause, the treatment will vary. If the condition cannot be treated effectively by medicines, antibiotics or rest, hospitalization may be recommended. If a person faces difficulty while breathing, doing breathing exercises can assist in treating the symptoms of pneumonia.

The exercise of deep breaths moves air in to the tiniest sacs in the lungs, which are known as alveoli. It is here that the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide is done. This improved transfer induces better oxygenation to lungs and other body tissues. Good oxygenation promotes better health of the tissues which in turn assists the cells in the body to fight the germs causing pneumonia. The exercise will also assist in controlling of correct breathing pattern thus promoting maintenance of calm state of mind even if the individual is facing stress or illness.

Certain exercises involve inhalation technique which will work towards strengthening the muscles of the chest and avert collapse of alveoli which otherwise worsen the symptoms related to pneumonia. The doctor may also advice the usage of spirometry. This is an apparatus which will show the patient the volume of breaths taken. The person takes deep breaths using a tube. This will be attached to the devise which will display the depth of each inhalation taken. He/she can stand or sit in order to practice deep breathing with the elbows rolled back. The person should inhale slowly, hold the breath for almost five seconds and then exhale slowly.

Sufferers of pneumonia can also try assisted cough to get relief from pneumonia symptoms. They should place their hands on their upper abdomen or chest for extra support, press them, take a long and deep breath and then cough. This action will force the air out of the lungs and take the phlegm or mucus out of the airways, thus clearing the congestion.

The breathing exercise is recommended as a routine alongside medications. Some doctors recommend deep breathing after prolonged bed rest or after a surgical procedure in order to avert pneumonia that many hospital patients are susceptible to. The person should not stifle their cough, which actually assists in removing mucus from the air passages. If an individual suffers extreme and sudden pain of the chest while breathing, the doctor should be consulted without delay for treating the condition and avoiding development of pneumonia.

Eucalyptus Oil Aromatherapy for Respiratory Problems Such As Asthma and Sinusitis

Respiratory problems are common in the United States as well as many other developed nations. Part of the contributing factors of today's respiratory issues are a direct result of indoor and outdoor pollution, including particles, biological contaminants and gaseous pollutants. Air pollution: viruses, germs and other contaminants are everywhere. So how can the average person improve there respiratory health and wellbeing?

Aromatherapy is fast becoming a viable alternative for many people looking to live healthier lives - proactively. But what is aromatherapy? It is not just a product that smells good. Aromatherapy is the practice of utilizing volatile oils (essential oils) that are found in plants as a natural, holistic approach to medicine, or an alternative method of caring for the body and mind. These essential oils are very aromatic - hence the term "aromatherapy".

So how does aromatherapy help with respiratory distress? Researchers are finding more and more evidence of the medical benefits of using essential oils such as eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, tea tree oil and others. These benefits include improved respiratory health, reduction of stress and trauma, lowering blood sugar and blood pressure, and pain management just to name a few. Scientists are also exploring the role of essential oils for treatment of different types of cancers.

What is eucalyptus oil?

Eucalyptus oil is the volatile oil extracted for the leaf of the eucalyptus tree. The leaves are harvested from the tree and distilled in a stream distillation unit. The result is an aromatic volatile oil extract containing the essence of the leaf. According to the US National Institute of Health, "Eucalyptus leaf contains chemicals that might help control blood sugar. It also contains chemicals that might have activity against bacteria and fungi. Eucalyptus oil contains chemicals that might help pain and inflammation. It might also block chemicals that cause asthma."

How can Eucalyptus Oil help with respiratory problems?

The US National Institute of Health also states "Developing research suggests that eucalyptol, a chemical found in eucalyptus oil, might be able to break up mucous. Some people with severe asthma have been able to lower their dosage of steroid medications if they take eucalyptol." Those suffering from asthma can prepare topical applications and/or use an inhaler that contains the oil. Eucalyptus oil can help open bronchial pathways while reducing phlegm and mucus, thus allowing fore easier breathing. The same treatment can be used on those suffering from sinusitis. Another method of treatment is through steam inhalation. A simple method would be adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil to a hot pot of water - gently lean in and place your head over the pot - breathing deeply. A few drops of oil in a warm shower will have a similar effect.

Asthma Treatment and Eight Things Not to Do

* The first thing not to do is deny you have asthma. Saying "Oh it's just a common cold and I'm wheezing a bit. Maybe it's bronchitis?" When a doctor has just confirmed you have the chronic disease of asthma. Being obstructive is a course of action that will likely set your health back dreadfully. Accept the prescribed medications offered.

* Remember to take the medications and do not refuse to take them. Not at first anyway. You need to get acute asthma under control before it controls you. Do not deliberately deviate from the therapy guidelines.

* You may be given an asthma treatment program. Usually corticosteroid inhalers to begin with and possibly some breathing exercises to assist the airways. Not taking your asthma medication to this prescribed schedule can lead to the symptoms becoming erratic. This can be inconvenient at best and possibly fatal at worst. Not using your prevention inhaler regularly as prescribed can add to the possibility of an untimely asthma attack.

* I have read that a peak flow meter is an essential part of your asthma tool kit. Do not believe it. You need the correct oxygen to carbon dioxide balance in your system. Part of the asthma problem is a lack of carbon dioxide in the lungs. Giving a big blow into a peak flow meter will deplete even further the amount of carbon dioxide that is left. Thus exacerbating the problem rather than helping to cure it. One blow into a peak flow meter will take around thirty minutes of careful controlled breathing to recover from.

* Not eating certain foods might be an advantage. It is known that dairy foods, white flour and white sugar help to produce the mucus you do not want. While I am not advocating you become obsessive in avoiding these type of food at all cost, do not eat them to excess. It would be difficult to totally avoid that combination anyway as they are used in so many processed foodstuffs.

* Do not smoke. If your lungs are at risk from asthma then it should be pretty obvious not to add to the aggravation with all the cocktail of toxins that is in cigarette smoke. Even if you do not smoke, make sure you are not in close proximity to others that are smoking. People have been known to have asthma attacks from secondhand smoke from others.

* Sudden changes in temperature can definitely set off some adverse asthma symptoms. It is one of those famous asthma triggers. So do not go straight outside into cold weather without taking care to ensure you are properly wrapped up suitably against such conditions. Make sure you have your rescue inhaler when going out as well.

* Having said all the above, the one thing I did not do was to believe all the doctors told me. While you should use the prescribed medications and plan of treatments offered there are some side effects to these medications. Tell your doctor when you notice those side effects. You could research to see if there are safer effective alternative asthma treatments available.

Bronchitis - What You Need to Know

Bronchitis is a condition caused by the inflammation of the medium sized airways. This is caused by pathogens, smoking and inhaling harmful fumes. The symptoms are wheezing, expectorant cough, shortness of breath, fever, fatigue and occasional chest pains. The pathogens at play here are the viruses and bacteria. Viruses are the most common causes of bronchitis infections. These are the influenza, rhino viruses, adenoviridae among others.

About bronchitis caused by viruses - the symptoms usually disappear in a few days without medication. Bacteria caused infections is treated using antibiotics, bronchodilaters and an expectorant cough syrup. A proper diagnosis should be carried out to determine the real cause of the symptoms experienced. These tests include blood and sputum tests. They reveal the nature of the infection and the pathogens causing it.

This will avoid taking the wrong drugs. Self treatment of the disease is not advised as you can not tell all about bronchitis. This is especially about the pathogens causing the disease. About bronchitis prognosis, the condition starts with a dry cough. This becomes a productive or wet cough in a matter of days. The cough can wake you up at night. This is followed by other bronchitis symptoms.

These symptoms disappear after a few days leaving the expectorant cough. The cough can last for up to a month. About bronchitis prevention, there is an oral vaccine, that can be taken. This was developed in 1985 by professor Robert Clancy of the university of Newcastle, Australia. The vaccine was put in the market four years later. This is an excellent way of avoiding the disease especially in prone areas and seasons.

Asthma and Chronic Bronchitis-Causes and Cures

Anything chronic is considered to be a persistent, recurrent and lasting condition. While chronic bronchitis has often been associated with allergies and/or asthma, there are many other causes that can trigger a bronchial infection. Asthma as we know is a lung disease that is characterized by asthmatic events triggered by a variety of factors which cause a constriction of the bronchial tubes and air passages.

A chronic cough, wheezing, breathing difficulties and a tight chest have also been associated with the common smoker's cough. This is unfortunate as there are many environmental factors that can contribute to an infection and caused these types of symptoms.

One such environmental factor is dust. While dust is a common substance found everywhere, it's especially problematic for those of us who may have a compromised respiratory system. A less than ideal breathing tract is found in people suffering with asthma, many allergies and yes even smokers. What's been ignored in many cases however, is that exposure to chemicals can cause a sensitivity to environmental factors such as dust.

As it's recognized that dust is almost everywhere, it's important to try to limit exposure as much as possible. This sensitivity of the person with chronic bronchitis will determine the level of action that's needed to limit dust exposure. Someone who is extremely sensitive may need special air cleaning equipment installed in their home. While another who's sensitivity is not as pronounced may be able to live comfortably in a home simply on a regular cleaning schedule. Check out the link below for free report on tips to eliminate asthmatic and bronchial cough triggers in your home.

Exposure to chemical fumes and odors may compromise an otherwise healthy respiratory system. This in turn can lead to sensitivity to other environmental factors like dust, but also both primary and secondary tobacco smoke. While the validity of the effects of secondhand smoke are continue to be debated, it has been shown to be an important breathing factor for those with a compromised respiratory system. All of these factors can contribute to the chronic cough experienced by many asthma, allergy and bronchitis sufferers.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a well regarded medical facility, bronchitis and the resulting cough can also be caused from stomach acid irritating for food pipe or esophagus. This is better known as acid reflux disease.

Acid reflux can now be successfully treated with many medications.

If you think that someone you know may be suffering from a chronic cough caused by bronchitis or possibly asthma, it's important to understand the lifestyle implications this may involve. The primary focus however, should be to get an accurate diagnosis from a qualified respiratory or pulmonary medical professional.

Forms and Types of Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a common respiratory disease that involves inflammation and often infection of the bronchial mucosal membranes. The symptoms generated by bronchitis vary according to the causes and the seriousness of the disease. Judging by the intensity and the duration of the disease, bronchitis can be either acute or chronic.

Acute bronchitis has a rapid onset and generates intense symptoms. However, most people with acute bronchitis respond well to specific treatments and are usually recovered quickly and permanently, with minimal risks of relapse. Acute bronchitis is very common among children and thus it is also commonly referred to as "childhood bronchitis". This type of bronchitis may last from a few days to 2-3 weeks. Acute bronchitis is highly treatable and it rarely leads to complications. However, in the absence of medical treatment, acute bronchitis may eventually become chronic, or it can further lead to pulmonary diseases (pneumonia, emphysema).

Unlike acute bronchitis, chronic forms of the disease generate persistent, recurrent symptoms. Although the clinical manifestations of chronic bronchitis are less intense, this type of disease is very difficult to treat. Even if patients with chronic bronchitis respond well to specific medical treatments, they often experience relapse after completing their prescribed course of medications. Chronic bronchitis can last for around three months, regularly reoccurring on the period of two years or even more. Chronic bronchitis often involves the lungs, and it can lead to serious pulmonary diseases. In fact, chronic bronchitis is one of the most commonly diagnosed types of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Chronic bronchitis has a very high incidence in smokers and it is also known as "the smokers' disease".

According to the triggers of the disease, bronchitis can also be categorized into infectious and non-infectious bronchitis. Non-infectious bronchitis is generally the result of prolonged exposure to chemicals, cigarette smoke and pollutants. Allergens (pollen, dust particles) are also triggers of non-infectious bronchitis, causing the disease to reoccur on a regular time basis. Infectious bronchitis involves infection with microorganisms and its generated symptoms are usually more intense. Common infectious agents responsible for causing this type of bronchitis are bacteria, viruses, mycoplasmas and fungal organisms.

Acute bronchitis is often associated with bacterial or viral infections. The disease is commonly acquired in the flu seasons and it generates symptoms such as: dry or low-productive cough, chills, low or moderate fever, sore throat, chest discomfort and pain, wheezing and difficulty breathing. With appropriate treatment, the symptoms of acute infectious bronchitis are quickly alleviated and the disease can be completely overcome within a couple of weeks.

Chronic bronchitis is usually the result of mistreated or untreated previous respiratory diseases. This type of bronchitis often occurs when the bronchial mucosal membranes become inflamed and infected multiple times over a short period of time. Chronic bronchitis is usually the consequence of exposure to both infectious and non-infectious agents. The occurrence and the progression of chronic bronchitis are strongly influenced by smoking, which augments the symptoms of the disease and slows down the healing of the respiratory tissues and organs. Chronic bronchitis generates symptoms such as highly productive cough, pronounced difficulty in breathing, shallow breathing, wheezing, chest discomfort and pain.

Pulmonary Fibrosis, Protein and the Need For Good Nutrition

Pulmonary fibrosis is a serious disease that can possibly lead to increasing scarring of the lung tissues. The disease starts with injuries to the tissues, both within and between the alveoli (tiny air sacs) in the lungs. Continued damage leads to further scarring, which in turn can cause the lungs to become stiff.

A normal lung is flexible and pliant so that it can expand and contract for full breaths. The continued fibrosis (the medical term for scarring) makes breathing difficult and can lead to shortness of breath and a dry cough. Medications and therapy are usually used to treat pulmonary fibrosis, with the aim of improving lung function and quality of life for the sufferer. For those with advanced cases of pulmonary fibrosis or those who are not responding to treatment, there might need to be a lung transplant.

Timothy is concerned about his health. He has several problems that make him wonder if he does not have a severe problem developing. He goes to the doctor eventually with symptoms that include shortness of breath and a dry cough. In addition, he is always very tired and has lost almost twenty pounds although he has had no change in his diet at all. He has started feeling out of breath even when he is simply getting dressed and he can no longer do any of the things that he has previously enjoyed doing.

There are 300 million alveoli in each of the lungs, for a total of 600 million in the body. In each of these tiny air sacs, a small blood vessel removes oxygen from the blood and replaces it with carbon dioxide. This process is repeated every time that you breathe in and out and is necessary to keep the body supplied with oxygen.

Pulmonary fibrosis allows scarring to build up and make the lungs stiffer than they should be so that breathing is very difficult. There are several reasons that this might happen, including a problem with the nutrients inside of the body and a misfire in the healing process.

What Causes Pulmonary Fibrosis

After being diagnosed, considered to be a medical challenge in most cases, Tim will look at the factors that may have contributed to the damages to his lung. There are hundreds of factors that can damage the lungs and lead to pulmonary fibrosis, but some of the most common include:

- Environmental or occupational factors: there are a number of toxins and pollutants that you can come in contact with both in your job and daily life. Grain dust, sugar cane and animal droppings can also cause these problems as well.

- Radiation: lung damage can occur in people who are given radiation treatment for lung or breast cancer. This damage may not show up for months or even years, after the first treatment was done. The use of chemotherapy can also increase the risk of damages to the lung.

- Medications: certain drugs can be harmful to the lungs, including some chemotherapy drugs, some heart medications, some psychiatric medications and some antibiotics.

- Gastroesophageal reflux disease, also called GERD: when stomach acids back up into the esophagus, it can lead to damages not only to this structure but to the lungs as well.

- Lung infections and other medical conditions: some lung diseases, such as tuberculosis and pneumonia, can lead to the scarring that increases the risk for pulmonary fibrosis. Other conditions that can lead to this disease: systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatomyostitis, poliomyelitis, Sjogren's syndrome and acidosis. It may also be associated with scleroderma.

(Source: The Mayo Clinic)

There are some times when the disease has no known causes or risk factors. In these cases, it is called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Timothy has never been a smoker nor has he ever had to have chemo or radiation treatment for any reason. The only factor that may have contributed to the condition is the work that he does in a factory. In addition, he has also had several bouts with pneumonia in the past few winters, but was never that worried about it until now.

After diagnosis, which involved a chest X-ray and a bronchoscopy (a method that allowed for a biopsy), Timothy is being given his treatment options for pulmonary fibrosis. One of the things that he is going to have to work on is improving his nutrition.

He will need to make sure that he is getting all of the nutrition that his body needs to stay strong and keep his lung function where it needs to be. He has already lost some weight and the doctor would like to keep him from losing more. While he wants to comply as much as possible, it is not easy for him to eat because he just does not feel up to it. One of the suggestions that the doctor makes for him is to use a protein supplement. He tries one, but it is too much for him and he gives up. He finally finds another option, which is small enough for him to consume without a lot of effort. For every serving, he gets 25 grams of protein without carbohydrates or fat. The additional protein is needed to prevent any further damage to his lungs and to keep his immune system working at its highest level.

Timothy is shocked though when his doctor tells him that he needs to start exercising more frequently. At first, it makes him feel even worse to move around, but after a few weeks, he finds out that he is actually feeling a little better and can breathe a little easier. He tries to make sure that he is also getting enough rest each night.

Once pulmonary fibrosis starts it cannot be reversed. It also cannot be stopped from progressing further. The treatments that are used are meant to slow this progression and to help keep the quality of life high.

Medications that are used to treat this disease include prednisone, a corticosteroid. Others include methotrexate or cyclosporine (both are immunosuppressants), and N-acetylcysteine, a derivative of a naturally occurring amino acid that may be added to the prednisone, which can slow the progression in some people. Another drug, pirfenidone, is being used in clinical trials and is showing some promise. (Source: The Mayo Clinic).

These medications can cause serious side effects, which can include diabetes, glaucoma, skin cancer and lymphoma. They may also cause the body to produce fewer red blood cells. Because these side effects are potentially as dangerous as the condition which the medication is treating, it is important that the doctor monitor for signs of improvement and discontinue the drugs if there is none after six months time. There are some people who will have no response on the medications at all. The treatment option of last resort for pulmonary fibrosis is a lung transplant.

In addition to these, there are therapies that are used to improve the quality of life. These include oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. The wait for lungs to become available can be very long and emotionally draining for most people. In addition, they must make sure to stay as healthy as possible so that they can be ready for surgery whenever the call comes in.

Learn About Asthma - The Causes, Symptoms, Prevention and Treatment

Introduction to Asthma

Chronically hyperactive and over-excited airways are the major causes of bronchial asthma, and such conditions further punctuate acute episodes of reversible narrowing of the airways. As the reasons for this disorder have not yet been understood completely, it is usually considered that those suffering from asthma usually experience irritant to dust, viral infections and smoke in particular. These irritants are responsible for the contraction of muscles within the bronchi a condition referred as "Bronchospasm", and these even initiate the excessive production of mucus. Thus such conditions make the situation even more severe and the sufferer is not able to breathe appropriately. Nature of the attacks can be different and can vary in time period as well. There is no specific age for this disorder to occur as every person of any age can be the victim.

Major Causes

Asthma is generally caused due to some kind of allergy to irritating particles like dust or smoke whereas in some cases some other factors are also found to be responsible for this condition. Generally the irritants which are responsible for this condition include smoke, viral infections, dust particles, specific kinds of drugs, pollen and intake of certain kinds of food. There are some other diseases which are associated with asthma and ultimately become the cause of asthma which are generally hay fever or eczema. Some other factors such as any emotional excitement, stress or unnatural way of exercise may also become a cause of asthma.

Possible Symptoms

Difficult breathing, rapid episodes of breathing, wheezing, coughing with production of yellow or clear sputum, a sense of suffocation, painless tightness in chest, shallow breathing which is usually relieved by sitting and relaxing and sweating during breathing. These are the typically observed symptoms.

Now those symptoms which are observed in severe cases are an inability to speak, excessive sweating, sensation of anxiety, stretching of the muscles of neck and rapid pulse rate.

During emergency when the conditions are extreme the blueness of face or lips, confusion in behavior, extremely labored breathing or sense of extreme exhaustion is observed.

How can Asthma be Prevented?

One should be really careful about a few things in order to refrain from the severe situation. First one should identify all those irritants that cause problem then create an environment free of such irritants. Those carpets which are not really easy to clean should be out of the house and the house should be cleaned regularly. One should strictly refrain from smoking and also avoid the company of those who smoke.

One should drink at least eight glasses of water each day, to keep your airways hydrated for the loose excretion of mucus. One should practice deep and relaxed breathing each morning in order to give some exercise to the air ways, it would keep them active. As exercise may also prove to be harmful in such situations thus one should consult a doctor in this respect and practice the prescribed exercise.

How can Asthma be Treated?

A very common device known to every one is the "Bronchodilator"; through it a specific medicine is inhaled which can instantly relieve a severe attack, the medicine which is used in this inhaler is prescribed by the doctor. This treatment, although is instant and quite effective as well, should not be used excessively as the patient will begin relying upon it all the time. Corticosteroids, if inhaled regularly, can help prevent the underlying over-excitement. If the attacks become quite frequent then the oral bronchodilator drugs or an anti-leukotriene agent may prove to be very helpful in reducing the frequency of attacks and may prevent from severe cases. It is recommended that the inhalers should be used with the spacer, this spacer ensures the arrival of the medicine into the lungs properly and thus make the treatment effective.

A "peak airflow meter" is a device which is very helpful for the patients suffering from asthma as it can alert the patient well before time about an upcoming attack, therefore it is mostly recommended by doctors. Corticosteroid pills are generally prescribed by doctors for severe situations, and if the doctor is able to identify the specific allergens then he/she will most probably give you desensitize injections.

In extreme cases if no treatment is working at home then you should immediately call the ambulance.

Why PowerLung Helps to Improve Your Breathing

Do you realize that you breathe in and out anywhere from 15 to 25 times per minute? (HowStuffWorks.com) When you exercise, that rate increases without even realizing it! Breathing is something that we do without thinking and we tend to take our lungs for granted! However, if the muscles that make the lungs work become too weak then our breathing becomes that much more difficult. The PowerLung trains the repiratory muscles by providing resistance on both the inhale and exhale part of breathing. Training these muscles will improve our breathing power by increasing the endurance capacity and the ability to breathe deeper. The PowerLung will improve our everyday life and physical performance at all levels.

PowerLung was originally invented by a man who was in desperate need of a device that could help him get back into physical shape. Mr. Barry Jarvis has been involved with inventing new products and enhancements since the 1970's. He suffered a heart attack after years of intense athletic activity at the age of 48. After researching different products and advice offered by numerous physicians, he could only find products that would work with inhaling only. He finally decided to put his experience to use and began developing the PowerLung, which was available to the customer on October, 1999. He was finally able to begin walking miles and even jogging, and was able to quit using his asthma inhalers. Along with the rest of the staff at PowerLung, Mr. Jarvis uses his PowerLung at least twice a day.

PowerLung is a device is designed to increase lung capacity to help individuals breathe better. You can experience an improvement in relaxation, endurance, physical activity, and even music ability by using the PowerLung. Athletes, musicians, and those recovering from surgery greatly benefit from this product. In addition, individuals who suffer from COPD use this product. PowerLung will help improve performance by controlling breathing and improving breathing techniques. It is the only device that that improves your muscles that support your lungs by inhaling and exhaling, which has different controls for both. This works the muscles in the same method as lifting weights. PowerLung is available in different colors that correspond to different levels of resistance. PowerLung can be used for less than ten minutes per day either sitting, standing, or laying down. You can see results in as little as 3 to 5 days of use and in 2 weeks, notice a considerable advance in your breathing!

Athletes that use the PowerLung testify that they see immediate results in their performance; for example, they have stronger core muscles and their legs are stronger allowing them to finish the game strong! Baseball and basketball players have noticed stronger and more accurate 40s, pitching, hitting, jumping, passing and even fast breaks! Swimmers have faster lap times. Those involved in rowing, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer have all noticed better strength and endurance.

Musicians that use the PowerLung have the ability to play longer and produce a better sound. Powerlung leads to a faster recovery time for those who are recovering from surgery. COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is a disease that makes it extremely difficult to breathe, and it only gets worse over time. Symptoms of COPD include coughing, shortness of breath, and wheezing. With COPD being a major cause of disability, it limits your ability to do daily activities. Although there is no cure, devices such as the PowerLung can help with the damage to the lungs to slow the process of the disease and aid with routine activities.

PowerLung has many advantages and is recommended by doctors, coaches, teachers, and even dentists! It has proven to be the best on the market over many other similar products. It is the only product that will actually train and improve your breathing, inhaling and exhaling. It gives you complete control of the resistance and helps you breathe deep with every breath. Powerlung has been researched and tested for years, is easy to use, and continues to grow and get better every year!

Asthma Treatment - Preventer Inhaler

Drugs designed to prevent asthma attacks are an important part of your child's medication. Many parents may feel concerned about their child taking regular doses of drugs, even when he shows no sign of illness. But for the child with asthma, preventative medication can be the most effective and least stressful and damaging course of action. Taking regular doses from a preventer inhaler does not mean that your child will lost his chance of growing out of asthma, nor does it mean that he will become addicted and need higher and higher doses.

Fewer asthma attacks mean less strain on his respiratory system and less disruption of day to day activities. Your doctor will only prescribe the absolute minimum dose needed to keep your child healthy and you can discuss decreasing the dose and when your child's symptoms lessen. So, how to use a preventer inhaler? Your doctor will give instructions about when your child should use this inhaler.

It is common for it to be given just before meals or before your child brushes his teeth, to make timing easier to remember. If your child is young, you can use a spacer, just as you can with a reliever inhaler. You may find that because this medication has to be taken regularly every day even when your child is symptoms free, you meet with some resistance.

When a child has asthma symptoms he usually co-operates because he knows that using his inhaler will make him feel better. When he hasn't any symptoms he may not want to take his medicine. You can help by explaining that using this particular inhaler will keep him feeling well because it reduces inflammation in his lungs.

What Do You Mean There Are Two Types of Bronchitis - Acute and Chronic?

Bronchitis, like many disorders can be classified based on length of time someone has symptoms. Chronic bronchitis is considered long-lasting or long term. While most of us non professional medical types are doing good to recognize basic symptomatic conditions, pulmonary specialists need to be much more detailed and their understanding and diagnosis of various illnesses and diseases. This is the only way that treatments for both types of bronchitis and other illnesses can be accurately diagnosed and treated.

Acute bronchitis is typically identified with flu like symptoms and a short-term induration. Acute bronchitis however, simply means short-term and is typical of many people who get the flu or other viral infections.

It's basically an infection that constricts the breathing passageways. It can be caused by either a bacteria or be viral in nature. In one case, an antibiotics treatment regimen can help shorten the duration the person is sick. In the other, antibiotics will do absolutely no good. This is one reason why it's important to visit the doctor when you suspect bronchitis if only to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Without a simple medical test, there's no way a layperson such as you or I can determine if antibiotics are necessary. By the way, giving antibiotics when they aren't necessary can actually do more harm than good especially in children.

Acute bronchitis can be identified by a persistent cough and wheezing. A whistling or wheezing sound can be heard by listening carefully to someone breathing whose bronchial tubes are constricted. An acute case of bronchitis typically clears up in days but can last longer than a week or so. Some of the more common signs and symptoms of an upper respiratory infection such as bronchitis may include...

Wheezing

Difficulty Breathing

Congestion

a Tight Feeling around the Chest

Chronic bronchitis on the other hand, is an ongoing condition that can last for months or years. Chronic bronchial infections are many times caused by environmental factors.

These may include:

Exposure to dust

Certain odors or fumes

Smoking (both primary and secondhand)

There is no cure for chronic bronchitis and many who don't smoke but continue to suffer ongoing respiratory infections need to consider changes in their environment to limit exposure to things that may trigger a pulmonary or lung related illness.

To deal with chronic bronchitis, often times you will need to focus on the triggers that can cause the problem in the first place. This is one reason why I'm offering a free report on how to remove asthma, allergy and bronchitis triggers from your home.

Chronic Bronchitis Remedies and Cures

First, The Cause:

Acute bronchitis may become chronic if it is not properly treated and relieved. When a cold is allowed to continue, the infection may extend down into the lungs and become chronic. Occasionally, if it is not cured, it may encourage the development of tuberculosis or some other serious chronic lung disease.

Some forms of stomach trouble may be a cause of bronchitis and even pneumonia. This is particularly true of those persons who bring up acid and other stomach contents into the mouth while asleep, and then aspirate it into their lungs.

The Symptoms:

Almost continual coughing; coughing up quantities of mucus and phlegm; shortness of breath and wheezing. These symptoms may become very severe and disabling.

The Natural Treatment:

If the person is a smoker the most important thing is to stop smoking (read the nicotine addiction guide).

Eat alkaline foods. Fruit juices of all kinds, especially pineapple, lemon, orange, and grape fruit are best, as they help to loosen and cut the phlegm.

Everyone should keep herbs on hand for colds and influenza and not let them develop into chronic bronchial trouble.

Medicinal Herbs

Sage:

Used for bronchitis and al kinds of lung trouble and throat sicknesses.

"Side Effects"

It's a good remedy for many health problems. It could almost be called a "cure-all." It's good for colds, influenza, asthma, coughs. It soothes nerves, help liver and kidneys, and helps most all stomach problems.

Echinacea:

Strengthen the immune system and to help the body promote the overall health of the upper respiratory tract. Also relieves sore throat.

"Side Effects"

It cleanses the blood and can be used healing most everything as it boosts the immune system.

Licorice:

Used for lung and throat problems. Bronchitis, coughs and congestion, etc. It has been shown to support antiviral activity, support the stress response, as well as inflammatory response

"Side Effects"

It is a mild laxative and great for cough syrups. Don't take if you have blood pressure problems.

Vitality of Doctor's Orders and Advices for COPD

Any health conditions or diseases, if not taken care or given proper treatments, would become aggravated and severe in nature. Suffering from COPD or having its development might not be deciphered, as symptoms are not visible till its complete development. Therefore, you must consult your doctor and take his or her recommendation regarding various tests, so that you are able to know about it. One such test is spirometry, which is a breathing test. This is recommended by doctors, if you are a smoker or were one or if you have lung irritants for a prolonged duration. Through this test you doctor would be able to measure and determine the functioning of your lungs. The other name for this test is called Lung Function or Pulmonary Function tests.

Taking doctor's advice and recommendation would enable you to get a good knowledge about COPD. COPD occurs in individuals who are 40 years of age and above, especially if he or she has a smoking history. But then there are many who haven't tread to this path of smoking. If you are or were a smoker or if you have been exposed to various air pollutants, for example, being a passive smoker then the risk of developing COPD is higher in you.

You doctor would help you in providing you with the symptoms and signs of this conditions. If you cough and have a chronic form of it without any wheezing, sputum, chest tightness or having breathlessness in an increased rate then it is time you should consult a doctor.

You doctor would advice you to undergo the spirometry test, if he or she sees any kind of COPD signs. Through this test he or she would be able to detect the condition, prior to even symptom formation. You have to blow on a hose out of your lungs, which is attached to the spirometer. This piece of machinery is sensitive enough to take the measurement and also detect the condition, even before you start developing the symptoms.

Your doctor would then be able to know the severity of your condition and decipher the stages, you are in, which are in four forms:

* At risk

* Mild

* Moderate

* Severe

Why is a doctor's orders and advice important? The answer is very simple. If you do not follow your doctor's order and take his treatments then the condition would be misdiagnosed. This way there would be an aggravation of worsening of your condition, which would be increased if left untreated, without any therapy or medications. Once your doctor diagnoses you, he or she would be enabled to provide you with a treatment and medication's plan, thereby, aiding in controlling all the symptoms and preventing the progression of the disease.

So, always be open to your doctor because he or she is the only best person to provide you with all the important details, information and treatment plans. He or she would be your guide towards the road to recovery.

Get the Latest Bronchitis Treatment For Kids

Bronchitis occurs in both adults and kids. This is a disease characterized by acute inflammation of the air passages. The air passages become inflamed as an effect of infection or other possible causes. Coughing and wheezing are the common symptoms of bronchitis. A person's cough may be dry or with phlegm which lasts for longer than two weeks. Wheezing or hearing a whistling sound when breathing out is caused when the air passages become inflamed. Wheezing may further cause shortness of breath or breathing difficulty.

Since symptoms of bronchitis can also be symptoms of other diseases, proper diagnosis is very important to give the best bronchitis treatment for kids. A bronchitis diagnosis is established when any of the following tests have been done: chest x-ray when pneumonia is suspected, measurement of oxygen saturation, bacterial culture for the phlegm.

Bronchitis treatment for kids differs because cases can have various causes. The first-line of bronchitis treatment for kids is a cough suppressant. This medication suppresses cough and loosens phlegm which are important in preventing further irritation to the bronchial tubes because of severe coughing.

Bronchodilator delivered through an inhaler is also part of the bronchitis treatment for kids. This medication opens the airway passages and reduces wheezing.

Since most cases of bronchitis are caused by viral infections, prescription of antibiotics is not necessary. On the other hand, doctors prescribe antibiotics as bronchitis treatment for kids if they suspect a bacterial infection as cause of the disease.

In a few cases, hospitalization is necessary as treatment of Bronchitis for kids. Hospitalization is only necessary if kids experience difficulty in breathing and if they do not respond to treatment. These rare cases are usually caused by complications of bronchitis.

One latest bronchitis treatment for kids is oxygen therapy. In fact, oxygen therapy can now be done within the comforts of your own home. This method of bronchitis treatment for kids is also prescribed for asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and congestive heart failure.

The doctor's prescription for home oxygen therapy will include the following vital information: flow rate, amount of oxygen needed per minute, and the time when oxygen is used. In order for your doctor to establish the amount of oxygen that you need, he or she will run a blood test to determine your oxygen levels. The result of the blood test will determine the amount of oxygen that you need. Furthermore, some patients use oxygen therapy while sleeping, exercising, or continuously.

During the course of bronchitis treatment in kids, they may experience muscle aches and fever. For these, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin is effective. The kids must also be hydrated by drinking lots of fluids because this will cause lung secretions to become thinner and clearer.

Salt Therapy for Asthma - How It Works

An asthma attack can be very scary. The person suffering from the attack may feel like he is unable to catch his breath and often this is the case. In fact, this condition can be so severe that a person can die if the attack is severe enough. Many are finding that salt therapy can help treat this condition so they are turning to this treatment method more and more. How exactly does salt therapy treat asthma?

The patient will be placed in a comfortable chair in a special room for one hour. Here is where the salt therapy will be conducted. Each hour constitutes one session and the patient will be asked to breathe normally while listening to relaxing music. As the person breathes in the air in the room, tiny salt particles which are negatively ionized will enter the respiratory system reaching even the deepest portions of the lungs.

As the dry saline aerosol is inhaled during salt therapy, inflammation of the respiratory tract is reduced. Edema, found in the mucosa of the airway passages, is absorbed and this leads to a widening of these passages. When this occurs, mucus will be transported normally again and anything blocking the passage will become unclogged. This helps to remove any foreign allergens and residual tar from the bronchi and bronchioles.

As the respiratory system clears itself, patients using salt therapy can breathe easier. This benefits the patient in many ways. Not only will quality of life be improved, fewer medications will be needed. Hospitalizations will be less likely to happen and the number of asthma attacks will decrease. This treatment option can be used by those of any age.

Salt therapy has been shown to be very effective when used properly. Over 57% of those who have tried this treatment method say that they are able to cut back on their use of prescription medications. Eighty percent suffer less dyspnoea and it is shown to be up to 98% effective. Benefits of this treatment method may last up to 12 months or longer and fewer sick days are needed, an average of 11 fewer. This is one treatment that anyone suffering from asthma should try to see how it can benefit you.

If you suffer from asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis or even simply hay fever and similar allergies, salt therapy may be an avenue well worth considering to compliment your current treatment.

Treatments for Viral Asthma

Viral asthma can often lead to life threatening circumstances so it is advisable that one must take proper medication, once they are diagnosed with such a disease. Professional medical help should be considered at all time to prevent aggravation of such disease.

The general treatments available for viral asthma include bronchodilators and corticosteroids. If children are suffering from such disease then special care should be taken for them as often the asthma occurs intermittently and can be easily treated with reliever medications whenever such symptoms occur.

Medications used to treat asthma depends on the severity and frequency of the viral attacks and short acting beta2 agonists such as salbutamol and terbutaline can be used to relieve the pain. Several other oral corticosteroids can also be used to treat viral asthma but inhaled corticosteroids such as beclomethasone and budesonide are preferable forms of treatment as they are easy to deliver and have long-lasting effect. One must however remember that severe form of asthma requires hospitalization as the patient is supposed to be given continuous flow of oxygen along with intravenous and oral steroids.

Some forms of alternative therapies such as acupuncture and ayurvedic or herbal medicine has come up recently to treat different types of asthma, but their sanctity and efficacy is variable and remains a mystery.

There are several treatments available for viral asthma but you should choose the medication that best suits your body. Do not try to overreact when diagnose with this disease as it is easily curable and you soon be fit enough to get on with your daily routine.
